Evelyn: A New Musical
Evelyn: A New Musical is a fictionalized retelling of the life and death of Evelyn McHale. In May 1947, Evelyn took her own life by jumping off the Empire State Building. Her tragic death was captured on film. The photograph of Evelyn was published by TIME magazine and read: "At the bottom of Empire State Building the body of Evelyn McHale reposes calmly in grotesque bier her falling body punched into the top of a car". Evelyn: A New Musical creator Quenton Ellis was inspired by this picture and the mystery of this woman's life. Within this one act, he explores Evelyn's experiences with identity and mental health.
